i used to have lovely curly hair and ringlets a couple of years ago but then i made the mistake of getting higlights and it went horibble. it doesnt really curl anymore and just frizzes and any products i use make it sticky, stiff or greasy and not particularly curly either. i wash it everyday and brush it otherwise it gets really knotted and i cant get them out!does anyone know any way i can get it back to how it was? any ideas would help, though not a perm cause ive already ruined it enough and apparantly it is really bad for your hair??
Thanks, xxxxxCurly hair help!please!!!!?
My hair is realllllllllllyyyyyy curly, so I feel ya. But here's what I think.
Your first mistake -- Washing it everyday.
Bad idea, I wash my hair twice a week. That sounds gross to some people, but its healthy for people with thick curly hair. When you get out of the shower, ring out as much water as you can from your hair and brush it right away. (though I recommend a comb rather than a brush) Then put in your product. I use a lot, so I buy the cheap stuff. Dont use gel, its too much -- it causes your hair to be greasy and heavy. Use mousse and then layer in the hairspray. Suave actually has good products, they have special mouuse just for curly hair and then I use White Rain hairspray. After you put your product in, use a towel and scrunch your hair with it. Never use a blow dryer. Just give yourself enough time before you leave for your hair to be dry when you leave.
wow, that was a lot of info. Hope it helps!Curly hair help!please!!!!?
your hair is probably frizzing up because of the dryness from the dying, curly hair is no doubt dryer then straight hair and the best thing you can do is moisturize moisturize moisturize. Now I can't say I know what your pocket is like but I can give cheap alternatives. Products I find work for me are sunsilk waves and curls conditioner and curl cream, loreal curl cream and spray, on the expensive side of things I find that mixed chicks found at www.mixedchicks.co.uk or
www.afrotherapy.com are good also you should try paul mitchel from any salon also tigi catwalk curls or something simular.
May I also suggest you get a deep conditioning treatment every month while your hair is dyed.
highlights really shouldn't do that to your hair; has your diet or stress level change the past couple of years ago? that shows in your hair too. you should check out http://www.ouidad.com/ as they have the best products for curly hair; not sure where you live, but if you have the cash, go make an appointment at one of their salons and they'll get your hair the best it can be: http://www.ouidad.com/salon_locator/idx_
OH - totally forgot simple tips: don't brush your hair, scrunch it, don't shampoo everyday and use a leave in conditioner - good luck!
try using mixed chicks (www.mixedchicks.co.uk). their products might return your ringlets. try using their leave-in on clean wet hair and then air dry (no towel or blow).
don't shampoo every day. that will take away all your natural oils and make more frizz. try using mixed chicks deep conditioner and warm water to rinse instead of shampoo every day.
the people at mixedchicks u.k. are helpful.
my hairs really curly. ive had highlights and they came out ok. i know im still young but i use VO5 hairstyling mousse. you get it at any supermarkets like Asda or Morrisons, why dont you go to your hairdresser + get them to maybe do something about.
thats probably the best advice i could give you.

het your hair cut short but stylish, it can look nice. then ley new hair grow (nice %26amp; healthy)
first rule of curly hair is only brush it before you wash it and dont wash it everyday. all that does is make it static, fluffy and frizzy.
my hair is curly, its been dyed quite a few colours over the years and some have made it a bit off for a while but once the colour washes or grows out its fine again.
brushing curly hair brushes the curls out and just makes the frizz way worse. trust me i know!! until i was 14 i thought my hair was just frizzy coz my mum made me brush it everyday. it was only when i washed it one time at a friends house and she told me to put moose in it and when it dried it was lovely ringlets that i realised my hair was actually curly.
i have tried endless products, expensive and cheep, and the best i have found are some of the cheepest.
i use head and shoulders shampoo (get the one that suits your hair type, i.e greesy, dry etc) pantene conditioner for curly hair left in for about 4-5 mins before rinsing and then use an afro comb to comb it through, add your styling product, i use boots own styling gel, firm hold (its purple in a little tub and costs about 80p), put it in wet (dont towel dry just wring out the lengths of your hair), its not thick, heavy, sticky or hard. twist your ringlets round your fingers just once and they dry that way. works everytime for me.
i wash mine 2-3 times a week and only brush it just before i wash it. sure sometimes its knotty, especially if its been raining or windy out but just run your fingers through the knots or use an afro comb to get them out. oh and dont ever use a hair dryer, no matter what your hairdresser says! it will make you look like you stuck your fingers in a live plug socket!
good luck, i hope you sort out the problem.
