my hair is weird. when i turned 12 it started getting REALLY curly, before then it was completely straight, no curl. its taking its slow time about completely turning overs so most of the front is wavy and the back just falls in tight wavy s's all over the place. What I want to know, is how to take care of my hair so that its not damaged and what types of brushes and things to use so it won't turn frizzy. also, what styles could i use that dont require alot of straightening. i LOVE my hair straightened, but i dont want it to get damaged, so anyway i need new styles that will include my naturally curly hair!I have EXTREMELY tight curly hair that is uncontrollable. I need help with it.?
i'm not sure what exactly your hair looks like without a photo.. but if you go natural, i'd put a smoothing creme in it when it's damp. you could try a wet set..mix some smoothing or anti-frizz product with some gel or mousse and put it in your wet hair. then take small pieces of your hair and twist it into curls around your fingers. it neatens the curls and the product gives you hold and controls frizz. if i were you, i'd GENTLY comb it when damp, and not dry. if you brush dry, it'll puff upI have EXTREMELY tight curly hair that is uncontrollable. I have extrememly tight curls too.
I'm not sure about you but I'm into
more of the beachy waves style then
curls. So what I do is
1. Take a shower with shampoo
and conditioner thats meant to hydrate
2. Let hair air dry for about ten minutes.
3. Braid hair EXTREMELY TIGHT
(it'll look goofy but youre going to bed no one's
gonna c u)
4. in the morning most likely you hair'll
b a lil wet still so take your blow dry and
point the nozzle @ ur braids
5. lets the braids out put some
good frizz product and straighten your bangs
Some resources for your curly hair:

Lorraine Massey's Book: Curly Girl
On Naturally Curly.com you can find your hair type and what products to use with your hair. Right now I'm doing a technique called co-washing. Which means I wash my hair with conditioner. To do this you put a put conditioner on your scalp and massage your head. Do this until you feel the dirt come off. With this techqiue your bascily using friction to get rid of the dirt that is in your hair. To learn more you could look here :

(or of course you could look up co-wash in google)
It takes awhile to get use to though. Also different products will give different effects. The way products work on your hair all depends on what kind of things build up your hair. For more look here:

One thing I would absolutely stay away from are shampoos with sulfates in them. Sulfates destroy you hair and make it absolutely frizzy and less manageable. If you don't want to co-wash you could look for organic shampoos or soaps to wash your hair with. I myself am looking a good cheap shampoo, but the best kind I have used is the shampoos that come from the Deva line. I heard that Givonni and Burts bees are good too.
Constant brushing your hair is a no, no for all hair types espeicallu if your curly. IT drys out your hair and again cause frizzes. The best thing to use is a wide tooth comb or your fingers.
There is plenty of info of narutrallycurly, and i again encourage you to use it. You sould like you have wavy hair actually but you still can get info on the website. Hope I helped.
