Curly hair help?

I have naturally curly hair, its below shoulder length. I spent my teens growing out a really dodgy fringe and several layers. Now its all the one length and doesn't have any shape and because of that I always wear it tied back. A hairdresser told me I need to get long layers to give it some shape. Does anyone have any experience with this matter? Should I go with her advice or can anyone else offer me an alternative?Curly hair help?
Hello, my hair used to look just like yours, and I was getting desperate. My hairdresser gave me the same advice about the layers and it worked, so yes, yours is right.

Good luck!Curly hair help?
well i hav naturally curly hair and find that having layers always grows out funny far quicker than i want to get my hair cut

i would recommend staying away from a fringe

and try wearing your hair down more as curls often suit this better

o yeh and ingor this straightenin fad ... it recks ur hair neway
Do a search for hairstyles on the internet, this will give you lots of ideas. It helped me when I fancied a change.
you should get hAIR EXTTIONS.
I myself have naturally curly hair .. I did the same thing ... let it grow out .. and yes your hair has no shape ... so I got mine cut with layers and what a difference it made ... I kept the length as the length was down to the bottom of my bra strap...

but check into magazines for women that have long hair -- the same length as yours ..and see how it is layered and find one you like and then take it to the hairdresser and get yours cut that way ... hope this helps you out ..
nicky clarke straigtners are good
i don't sorry
i have curly hair and its in layers cus when its one length the weight of the hair pulls out the curl and you are left with a wave or frizzy straight hair. i wouldnt get a fringe cus you wont be able to keep it straight and curly fringes look weird. have long layers put in for now and when you are used to them you could get some shorter ones on top for a bit of definition around your face. as for putting it up you can still do that with layered hair but just leave some of the shorter layers down and it looks really pretty
I used to have poker straight hair, when I reached forty, my hair went all kinky and twirly. Instead of spending my whole day with the straightening irons, I had it all chopped off and have never looked back!! I love the fact that I can do an ';Annie Lennox';, and now have it regularly cut. It's great in the summer when all the long haired buffs are sweating to death!!!!
my 2 kids have curly hair and they get long layers. They also like straightening though.
I have the same type hair and looked like crystal tips when it was all one length, I have had long layers for years now and my hair looks so much better. I wash and put a leave in conditioner for curly hair and let it dry naturally and the fringe is long and to the side. I have had lots of comments how nice my hair is, so in my opinion go for it. Don't get a short fringe cos it looks weird! Last year I straightened my hair alot with the GHD straighteners and decided to get a fringe but when I wore my hair curly it looked very short and odd. The straightening really took the condition out of my hair so now I go au natural!
i also have curly hair but i usually just straighten it.

i tried layers once, and it came out horrendous.
Deinately go with the layers it will give it more shape. When its all one length is has more weight in it so you won't make the most of your curl.

Have long layers to start, see how you cope, you can always take them shorter
Hey! I have curlish type hair and when I dont have layers, my hair just poofs out into a shapeless mess. You can keep your length, but layers help a lot! This is just from personal experience, hope it helps!
I have quite long dark brown hair but when i get outta the shower, its naturally curly but its reli not nice at all. But wat i do, instead of curling it properly, is...

let it dry naturally so it keeps the shape

straighten the fringe parts at the front an the tips of each curl and make sure to straighten about 2-3 inches from the bottom of ur hair, the whole way round, even all the layers

then strighten out fully the lower and inner section of your hair at the base and sides of ur neck (the outer curly sections hide the straight parts, an this helps to decrease volume!!) so that its looks longer than it is, and it reli looks like u hav extensions in!!

then get guys hair wax in a lil tub, such as shockwaves (it smells soo gud 2) rub into ur hands an scrunch ur hair an pull it thru each curl an straight thru the ends of ur hair

tousle ur hair an make it all messy lukin, its totally awesome!

all this takes about 10-15 mins to do it nice!!

You shud giv it a go if ur hair is naturally curly, it works great for me! Plus its much quicker an better for ur hair than straightin it all the time. Good luck with it! X
